Hoosac Tunnel
Modern diesel train emerging from east portal of historic Hoosac Tunnel. The tunnel which passes under the Mohawk Trail in Massachusetts, is nearly five miles long. Completed in 1875 at a cost of 195 lives, became a milestone in railroad engineering.
