Bridgton & Saco River No. 3, here topping off a head of steam at Bridgton, was a Portland-built 0-4-4 Forney Tank engine, a type considered ideal for the narrow-gauge railways of the late 1800s. It was prized for its fine brass bell mounted on the sand dome and for its graceful cab roof. Photo from Busted and Still Running: The Famous Two-Foot Gauge Railroad of Bridgton, Maine, by Edgar T.
