1872: Worcester and Shrewsbury Railroad incorporates by special act in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
May 1873: Worcester and Shrewsbury Railroad begins construction of the Washington Square to Lake Quinsigamond rail line with a three-foot track gauge.
July 31, 1873: Worcester and Shrewsbury Railroad begins operations between Worcester, Washington Square and Bloomingdale (Plantation Street).
