MBTA No. 1100 is the first engine in a set of 17 remanufactured diesels to be used in the upgrading of Boston commuter service. The engine was re-worked by the Illinois Central Gulf in their Paducah, Kentucky shops. It is designated as an FP10. Part of the order have head-end power while the others are equipped with steam generators. This view of 1100 was taken crossing Boston's Fort Point Channel Bridge once acclaimed the largest bascule bridge in the world. LEased Canadian GO coaches are being used to improve commuter rail service. March 23, 1979.
